2022 Edition

On September 28, 2022, AmCham Romania welcomed high ranking U.S. and Romanian officials and business leaders for a policy-industry dialogue on the future of bilateral economic relations and the next steps to tap into the opportunities provided by the solid cooperation between the United States and Romania in the defense and security area. Representatives of both administrations reiterated their unwavering support to intensify investment and trade between the two countries. The 2022 pilot edition of the Forum was organized with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Romania and Aspen Institute Romania to mark the 25th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership between the United States and Romania.

"Despite all the crises we are facing, Romania is a safe country with a stable government. Romania is also a growth space with many opportunities for consolidating existing investments and expanding through new foreign investments."

President Gorghiu praised the Strategic Partnership between the United States and Romania as an "investment into our future" and assured business leaders that the Romanian authorities are committed to undertake key reforms in areas such as the judiciary, education, labor force, combat of money laundering, commercial law, and accession to the OECD and the Schengen Area. Romania's goal is to become an enabler for American investments and a catalyst for economic and social development.

Deputy Prime Minister Grindeanu emphasized the Cabinet's priority to position itself as a "Government that supports investments", translated into the largest state budget allocation for investments in the last 32 years - more then RON 90 bn., and to provide stability, consistency, and predictability in the absence of which business plans cannot be devised. Going forward, the Government is set to launch an efficient and operational investment agency to become a central point of contact for prospective investors.
